Glass molds are made from ceramic so they can go right
in the kiln with your glass pieces. They can be used again and
again. The same molds can also be used for clay.
Important: You need
to use Glass Separator
on your molds so the glass does not stick to them. Kiln wash is a
possible alternative, if that is all you have on hand. However
kiln wash is less finely ground, so it tends to stick to the glass and
can be hard to scrape off.

Bottle
Slumping Molds - Slumping
Wine Bottles
It has become very popular to
slump wine bottles for bowls or cutting boards. Sometimes people
paint them first with glass pigments.
You can slump them on a shelf to make them flat, or use this mold to get a curved shape. Almost any kiln can be used to do this, but
if that is your main purpose the Olympic
Front Load Glass Kilns such as the 1823FL are great because of their
rectangular shape and relatively low cost. We have some instructions
for slumping wine bottles.

Textured
Molds
First melt the glass sheet on a texture mold, to give it texture.
Then put it in one of the dish molds to slump it and give it shape
