Banding Wheels Sculpture Stands

Banding wheels are used to hold your piece while it is being decorated. The less you handle the piece the better, as handling can causes stresses in the clay and smear your designs. For basic glazing, a CSI turntable is perfectly up to the job. The other banding wheels on this page are heavier, and are more desirable if you need the piece to turn smoothly, for example to draw perfectly straight lines (bands) around the pot.

These banding wheels represent excellent workmanship featuring cast iron/aluminum wheel heads (except 8 1/2"D x 5"H) and a ring of steel ball bearings for smooth and easy operation. The concentric circles on the head allow for easy centering. All but the 2" wheels offer high shank for easy use for large hands. Even the steel plate wheel with the 5" shank is designed for large hand use.

All Aluminum wheel is marked with concentric circles and rotates smoothly on a ball bearing and is weight at the rim for greater momentum. Grooved wheel shank accommodates a small round belt for mechanization. Use of setstone bats permits continuous use. Setstone bats absorb water during the drying process to allow easy release of ceramic pieces.

CSI Turntables

Heavy duty, very stable banding wheels turn on bearings. Top and bottom are particle board with durable Formica cover (colors vary).
Easily cleaned with damp sponge or wet cloth (do not submerge in water.) 8" wheel can handle up to 300 lbs, and 12-16" wheels can handle up to 500 lbs.
