| Glass fusing kilns (except Champ
packages) have elements on the lid as well as in the
sides, thus insuring even heating on all sized pieces. Infinite
switches give accurate control of the temperature; a separate switch for
the lid element gives the user several firing combinations using the lid
and wall elements.
Most Olympic glass kilns with electronic
controllers now ship with a lid element Mode Switch as a standard
feature. You can read about this on the 240V
Olympic Glass Kiln page. The 120V kilns on this page do not
have this Mode Switch. Because the desire was to create a glass
kiln that works on a standard 120V household outlet, there is only
enough power to run the lid and the side elements independently.
So with these kilns, the switch chooses between the lid and the body
element.
All Olympic glass kilns now have an glass
window option.

and has an element in the lid for glass fusing and wall elements
for ceramics. (The Traveler is equipped with a selector switch for using either the lid or body element.)
