Laguna Spodumen

Spodumene, also known as triphane, is a lithium aluminum silicate material.

Lithium is a powerful flux, and reduces the vitrification temperature required for a body to mature.

It also cuts down on shrinkage.

Compared to lithium carbonate on its own, however, spodumene melts a bit more readily.

Spodumene is good for copper-blue toned glazes, and promotes a matte surface.

Spodumene can be found in many places around the world, including the US, Canada, China, and Chile, but this spodumene is from Australia.
