While today most people choose the KilnMaster version of this model, there are still those who prefer the manual control of the KilnSitter. The KS1227-3 is great for low fire production. It’s 28″ wide chamber will hold most large platters and it’s 27″ height can accommodate pots up to 25″ tall.
The Skutt KS1227 electric kiln fires to 2,300°F on 240 volts and 2,185°F on 208 volts. It is a 12-sided model designed for high volume production work, and features a 2.5" brick.
The KS1227  is equipped with a KilnSitter, a mechanical control that fires your kiln by the time and temperature method of heat treatment using pyrometric cones or bars. After being exposed to the proper time and temperature (heatwork), the cone or bar softens and bends to a predetermined angle, shutting off the kiln. Also included is a limit timer.
